IT Specialist (Security), ZP-2210-IV (GS-12/13 equivalent)

Incumbent will provide privacy support to the NIST Chief Privacy Officer in an IT Specialist (Security) position in the IT Security and Networking Division of the Office of Information Systems Management (OISM) for the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, MD. The primary objective is to enhance NIST IT security and privacy posture through the following activities:
o Facilitate and conduct privacy assessments for existing NIST IT systems, including aligning assessments with security control assessments, and facilitating review and approval by stakeholders, and coordination with the Commerce Review Board.o Facilitate and conduct privacy assessments for new NIST IT systems, components, and/or data requests.o Coordinate and compile FISMA privacy metrics. o Identify and document privacy requirements in existing and new NIST directives.o Enhance existing privacy and related processes using an analytical and/or critical thinking skillset, coordinating with other stakeholders and business units to maximize efficiency while minimizing privacy risks. o Cultivate a culture of privacy awareness through development of awareness and training materials, and subsequent position requirements for the workforce (e.g., identification of privacy position performance metrics, implementation of privacy workforce codes, etc.). Basic Requirements:
This standard allows eligibility through meeting either the requirements specified in the section titled Education or the requirements specified in the section titled Experience. Education:
All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions Undergraduate or Graduate Education:
Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. OR
Experience:
Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. IT-related experience must demonstrate:
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND In addition to the basic requirements, applicant must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the GS-12 level (ZP-III at NIST). Specialized experience is defined as experience in managing cyber-security documentation and processes and supporting assessments of cyber-security requirements. As well as experience in enterprise cyber-security and/or privacy support. Evidence of writing and analytical skills necessary. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
