We have an exciting opportunity for a Custom Engineering Manager.
This position is responsible for directing project engineering, design, drafting, and quality of custom engineered solutions.
Your Role and
Responsibilities:
Directs all aspects of Custom Engineering, with associated budget responsibility.
Manages project engineering and scheduling to ensure on-time delivery of quality product within gross margin goals.
Participates as a member of the senior site management team to develop strategies and goals for the overall site.
Provides accurate cost estimates for sales/sales engineering for onward quoting of prices to potential customers.
Aligns customer applications between Sales and Custom Engineering.
Identifies and fulfills all staffing and training requirements to meet objectives of engineering, production and cycle time goals.
Sets the targets for the team and the individual engineering team members, and also does the yearly appraisal meetings with them.
Develops and implements medium term plans for Custom Engineering, consistent with the overall business plans.
Provides input and recommendations for the annual strategic planning process.
Works closely with end customers and sales to develop custom systems, which will satisfy all requirements for ease of operation, reliability, and safety as well as meeting all agreed specifications.
Develops and maintains improvement programs to continually improve quality, on-time delivery, cycle time reduction, cost and margin goals.
Works with sales and marketing to develop cycle times consistent with customer and competitive market demands.
Maintains active ongoing programs to develop and improve the job skills and performance of all assigned staff.
Involvement in supplier onboarding needed for systems business, together with the Site Manager and Procurement.
Ensures products are compliant, meeting relevant regulations for the market/application.
Addresses personnel, organization, facilities and other problems that may arise with assigned scope of authority in a responsive and effective manner.
Ensures that the Site Manager/Head of Operations as well as the functional engineering manager is apprised in an organized and concise manner as to the status of all Custom Engineering activities.
Assures that the Site Manager is apprised of problems and proposes solutions that may affect Custom Engineering activities.

What is Required for this Role:
Bachelor's Degree in electrical, mechanical, or industrial engineering, and 5 years experience as a design, sales or manufacturing engineer with custom or low-volume fabricated electromechanical products.
5 years additional experience in manufacturing or engineering management with a custom capital equipment manufacturer.
Familiarity with Industrial Infrared & Ultraviolet equipment applications.
Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate in an ISO 9001 class quality environment.
A Master's Degree is preferred.
The equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Must be proficient in ERP system such as SAP and possess advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Demonstrate a high level of integrity, professionalism and leadership ability; exhibit a high level of motivation and initiative with the ability to meet deadlines.
