GeneDx is seeking a Data ScientistGeneDx is a rapidly growing CAP and CLIA certified diagnostic genetic testing laboratory for molecular genetics.
Our historic mission has been to make clinical diagnostic testing available for people with genetic conditions and their families.
We apply cutting edge technologies that provide a wide array of molecular genetic diagnostic tests, including whole exome sequencing and next-generation sequencing panels.
We specialize in genetic testing for rare hereditary disorders, but also test for common disorders.

Responsibilities include:
Build predictive models to classify and prioritize genetic variantsBuild recommender systems to highlight relationships between patients, genes, and diseasesImprove existing data pipelines to further automate internal workflowsAutomate new assays by developing machine learning pipelinesCollaborate with the engineering team to develop large-scale data processing pipelinesCollaborate internally on software development and/or statistical analysis for scientific researchApply classical statistics to mine historical data for research projectsContribute development and expertise for ad-hoc analysis on interdisciplinary company projectsQualifications include:
MS or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, or a related field2
years relevant professional experienceDemonstrated understanding of exploratory data analysis and data visualization techniquesDemonstrated experience building and deploying machine learning pipelinesProficiency in at least one of the following programming languages:
Python or RProficiency using a machine learning framework (R, Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, Keras, Pytorch, DL4J, H2O, or similar)Working knowledge of relational databasesWorking knowledge of command-line Linux and shell scriptingSelf-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a small teamData-oriented personalityUnderstanding of statistical concepts such as probability and regressionKnowledge of biology and/or fundamental genetics is preferredKnowledge of big data processing tools (Apache Spark or similar) is preferredBenefits include:
