Role:
Lab Automation Engineer (FT, 40 hours, On-site)This position will work with RD to design, develop and implement robotics and automation systems for molecular DNA diagnostics.
The focus will be on development of automation methods for the prep of different sample types for massively parallel sequencing, whole genome Imaging, microarrays, and future molecular testing methods.
Essential Duties IncludeWrite automation programs by interpreting requirements as designatedAuthor preliminary SOPs and generate application-specific technical training contentTroubleshoot technical issues that arise in a clinical production environmentWork with vendors to facilitate instrument installation, maintenance, and performance monitoringAssist lab personnel in developing contingency plans for implementation during instrument downtimeAid in validation efforts of newly developed workflowsQualifications IncludeBS/MS degree in Biology/Biochemistry/Genetics/Engineering/CompSciExperience with computer programming, communicating with various databases, IT, and willingness to learn techniques for automating molecular biology laboratory applicationsTechnically competent and personable with a diverse group of scientistsStrong analytical, problem solving, and communication skillsFamiliarity with laboratory techniques in molecular biologyExperience with massively parallel sequencing sample prep5
year experience with laboratory automation, methods development, programming, and genomics is needed5
year of experience programming a Hamilton STAR, Tecan Fluent, Caliper Zephyr/Sciclone, Opentron, or similar for molecular biologyExperience with driver development, dynamic scheduling software, and integration efforts is preferred.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
